Hey TechKnow Visitor,
Congratulations with your A13 tablet! For it's price and performance (and looks!) this is one of China's fine tablet series!#1 ENABLE ADB (if not enabled already)
Enable ADB, this way you can connect to the tablet using the Uberizer. This gives you many advantages including the removal of lock screens, which is a real handy feature if you ever forget the lock screen combination!
Your device must have "ADB Debugging" checked in: "Settings \ Developer options \ USB debugging (Debug mode when USB is connected)"#2 I do not want to brick my A13, are there any hints or tips to prevent bricking it when experimenting or reflashing it?
Yes I have some good tips for you if you want to be careful (or wise).
First of all, get the Uberizer here: http://www.techknow.t0xic.nl/forum/index.php?board=153.0
this has drivers and a backup routine for A13 tablets, a ROM Dump can easily be performed using the Uberizer.
Second, get the TechKnow ToolKit (install using the Uberizer or download it seperate from: http://www.techknow.me/forum/index.php?board=169.0
and backup the script.bin to your sd (VERY important file that contains parameters to your specific hardware configuration).
Third... well that's all you need to go ahead modding / tweaking without too much risk!#3 I want to have Superuser / root on this A13
Get the Uberizer, it can give you full root access easily. Read the Uberizer documentation for more details.#4 I have ICS 4.0 on my A13 Tablet, can I upgrade to 4.2.2 ?
Yes! You can! Try toxicro's wonderful mod here: FaaastJB A13 Allwinner with Jelly Bean 4.2.2 by Toxicro#5 What CWM to use on my A13 Tablet ?
Determine the number of partitions
Open an adb session with the tablet
type in: adb shell
type in: cat /proc/partitions
If the last of the nand entries is:
nandi you have 9 partitions
nandj you have 10 partitions
nandk you have 11 partitions
use the following CWM according to the number of partitions you have:
cwm6028-a13-9part-v2.zip for 9 partitions
cwm6028-a13-10part-v2.zip for 10 partitions
cwm6028-a13-11part-v2.zip for 11 partitionshttp://www.4shared.com/zip/asXukKjn/cwm6028-a13-9part-v2.htmlhttp://www.4shared.com/zip/luu37msz/cwm6028-a13-10part-v2.htmlhttp://www.4shared.com/zip/EwZBRuBv/cwm6028-a13-11part-v2.html
If you unzip the file you will find the recovery.img file
These partitions may change with whatever ROM you may be running. So check before flashing a new rom.If you use the Uberizer restore function:
Rename the existing recovery.img in the uberizer/changer_files to recovery.old and then copy the correct CWM recovery image to the uberizer/change_files folder before running the restore function.
